Bryan Robson dubbed "Captain Marvel" arrived at Man United for £1,500,000 in October 1981. Already an England midfielder at the time, doubts were expressed about the vast sum of money spent by Ron Atkinson. Bill Shankly backed the investment by saying at the time,"Now we have someone who can take the game by the scruff of the neck and make things happen." Bryan Robson soon became a driving force in midfield. With no noticeable weakness his game was irrepressible - his tackling, passing and shooting were all performed with text-book accuracy. The honours he received were legendary - 3 F.A.Cups in 1982-83, 1984-85, and 1989-90 - 2 League Championships in 1992-93 and 1994-95 - European Cup Winner's Cup 1990-91.Now Brain has turned his football brain to managerment with Boro which has not been as easy as lacing up his boots and needed help of top coach Terry Venables to help Boro stay up in the 2000/01 season so lets hope Bryan learns from this and maybe one day comes back to were he belongs Old Trafford and takes on the hot seat.
