About Duncan Edwards Birthplace : 1.10.36 England Height : 5ft 11 Weight : 12st 7 Position : Midfield
Duncan Edwards was a schoolboy when he signed for Man United at the tender age of 16. Sir Matt Busby went round to his parents home to sign the promising lad on the 31st May 1952. The next season in 1953/54 Duncan became a regular in the legendary Sir Matt Busby side. When Duncan first became capped by England he was the youngest player ever to do so aged just 18 and 183 days. Duncan was a very sensible young man and became the first player to earn sponsorship money from advertising products. He had everything waiting to happen, he was the brightest talent to grace Old Trafford and represent England ever. On the 21st February 1958 Duncan Edwards was in the Munich air disaster in which he tragically died. No words can describe the grief felt all over the world. Duncan Edwards is remembered as a young man who was a pleasure to watch on and off the pitch.
