Lou Macari came from Celtic FC to join the Mighty Red Devils his debut was on Saturday, 20th January 1973 scoring in a 2-2 draw at home to West Ham United aged 23 this was the start of his Manchester United career which lasted over 10 years he made 311 League apps (+18 as sub)and scored 78 goals. Lou's main strength was his ability to run and dribble with the ball creating chances for his playing partners like Joe Jordan,one of the matches what sticks out in my mind was the 1977 FA Cup Final where Man United beat Liverpool 2-1 Lou was all over the place that day and it was his deflected shot what beat Liverpools Goalie Ray Clemence to seal the win. Lou Macari was one of the best Midfield players ever to play for Man United its as simple as that.
