The Famous Brain Clough was the first to recognize the huge talent Roy Keane possesses. At the age of 18 he joined Nottingham Forest.
In 1992 he was on the losing side to Manchester United in the League Cup Final. The next season Forest were relegated and the interest in Roy Keane's availability was high - fortunately for all Manchester United fans Alex Ferguson paid a £3,750,000 British transfer record at the time to secure his service.
Roy turned out to be one of the best signings Alex made, taking over the captain's armband from Eric Cantona. Sadly, Roy only captained for 2 months when he was badly injured and missed the rest of the 1997-98 season.
The rest is history - he became the most successful captain in Manchester United history, with the famous treble in 1999.
Manchester United rewarded Roy with the largest contract ever given at United, making him the highest paid footballer in the Country since then Roy has Paid the fans back on the pitch, there had been something stupid said about a prawn sandwich which got blown up by the media which did not help Roy but what he has done on the pitch speaks volumes.
Roy then went to the 2002 World Cup as Irelands best player but just could not get on with the manager Mick McCarthy and was sent home, Roy thought that Mick was not doing enough for the Squads chance to win Matches and has told his story in a book all about his football career.
In the 2004 season it was a bit up and down for Roy the League went to arch Rivals Arsenal which would of hurt The Man United Captain a lot, but Roy made history at the end of the season and is the only player to feature in 6 FA Cup Finals.
The Big Question Now is Will Roy Keane Be Captain Next Year?
